App Store Connect / Reporting tokens and transactions to Apple

Making payments to Apple

Reporting tokens and transactions to Apple

In certain regions, if your apps or digital goods and services are offered outside of the App Store, your app or website receives a token when a customer initiates an external purchase. You’ll need to send a monthly report to Apple that includes all transactions associated with these tokens for applicable commission and fee calculation and collection purposes.

When is it required

Any time you use alternative payment options in your App Store app or sell digital goods and services in your alternatively distributed app, you must submit a monthly report within 15 days after the end of the calendar month. Learn more about using the External Purchase Server API and MarketplaceKit.

Sending reports to Apple via External Purchase Server API

To send a report to Apple, call the External Purchase Server API from your server. For details on how use the API, visit External Purchase Server API and Reporting transactions for the Core Technology Commission.

What needs to be included

Your report must include all tokens, regardless of whether they resulted in a completed transaction. This includes refunds, corrections, renewals, one-time purchases, and transactions that didn’t lead to a purchase.

Regional requirements

Reporting tokens and transactions to Apple applies to apps distributed in the European Union and Japan that use external distribution APIs. Developers that offer alternative payment options in their app on the App Store in Japan are required to report transactions manually. For details, visit Payment options on the App Store in Japan.
